Robert Vadra, husband of Priyanka Gandhi and brother-in-law of Congress president Rahul Gandhi has been given the permission by CBI special court to travel abroad, reports Aaj Tak.
However, while Vadra can travel to United States or Netherlands, the court has prohibited him from travelling to London. Robert Vadra is an accused in the illegal money laundering case related to 19-million-pound Brianston Square property in London.
Vadra had requested the court to allow him to travel to London for medical check-up as he was suffering from a tumour in intestine. Vadra has been out on a conditional anticipatory bail, under which he cannot leave the country without court’s permission.
Vadra also skipped the last Enforcement Directorate (ED) hearing on 31 May on accounts of ill health. In this scenario, the next meeting scheduled for Tuesday (4 June) can be specially difficult for Vadra where he could face tough questions.
The agency had told a Delhi court that it has received information about various new properties in London which belong to Vadra. These include two houses, one worth 5-million-pound and the other valued at 4-million-pound, six other flats and more properties.
