App-based cab aggregator, Uber, has announced its second phase of partnership with Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), Metro Rail News reports. The partnership comes to improve the last mile connectivity for DMRC commuters as Uber will be instating kiosks at 50 more metro stations in the first half of 2019.
During the first phase of the partnership, Uber was able to set kiosks at Dwarka sector 21, Rajiv Chowk and Sikanderpur stations. Commuters can also book their cabs, via phone apps. Further, for passengers who are not able to book cabs from the app, Uber will be appointing an Uber Ride Assistant on the metro stations for their convenience.
MD, DMRC, Dr Mangu Singh said, “DMRC has always kept the interest of its passengers in the centre of their work. Facilitate our agenda mobility and make feeder transport accessible to the passengers in a convenient way”, while adding the partnerships with Ola and Uber will spur up people travelling to the metro so that they receive convenient corner connectivity.
The Chief Commercial Officer (Asia Pacific) of Uber, Madhu Kanan believes the move will simplify the journey to various places from metro stations and hence reduce the need of parking spaces as well as make “corner connectivity easier.”

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
