As an outcome of Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi's visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and meeting with prominent NRI business tycoon Yusuffali M A, the latter’s LuLu Group has initiated importing Kashmiri apples, while also placing orders for a host of other commodities, reports Money Control.
The LuLu Group which owns and operates as many as 180 hypermarkets and shopping malls across the Middle East has already taken a shipment of over 200 tonnes of Kashmiri apples, amounting to a total of ten containers.
The Group is all set to also host a 'Kashmir Promotion Week' across the hypermarkets owned by it, wherein the Group will push and promote the high-quality agricultural products from the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K).
It has also placed massive orders for saffron from J&K and is set to place orders for rice, walnuts, pulses, and spices from the Kashmir Valley, while also proposing to set up a logistics hub in Srinagar.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
