In a big boost to all-weather road connectivity in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari will lay the foundation stone for several highway projects in Jammu on Wednesday (24 November).
Gadkari is set to lay foundation stone for 25 National Highway projects of total length 257 Km. The projects will be developed with an Investment of Rs 11,721 crores.
These projects will provide all weather connectivity between Jammu and Kashmir valley, a Road Transport Ministry release said on Tuesday (23 November).
These roads are strategically important for swift movement of defence forces alongwith agricultural,industrial and socio-economic progress of the region, according to the ministry.
The projects will connect all major roads leading to various district headquarters and will help in generation of employment and self employment oppurtunities.
The projects will involve rehabilitation and upgradation of some sections, construction of viaduct and tunnel and rectification of black spots, the ministry said.
