The Bar Council of India has strongly condemned the violent attacks on police and armed forces personnel across India by people protesting against the Citizenship Amendment Act, reports The Hindu.
The Council has asserted that it would not tolerate any humiliation of the forces and urged the leaders and youth to work towards diffusing the violence that has gripped the nation lately.
It also pressed on advocates to convince the masses that the matter of the amended Act is under the Supreme Court’s scrutiny and that they should have faith in the institution.
The Council also condemned the vandalisation of public and private property by the violent protestors and pressed on lawyers, bar associations, the State bar councils and the students’ associations of the National Law Universities and other law colleges to ensure that law and order was maintained throughout the country.
