Eying victory in Punjab assembly elections, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal promised 200 units of free electricity for all households in Punjab if the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) wins the elections scheduled for early next year.

“It is very difficult for a woman to run her own house at such an expensive price. In Delhi we provide 200 units of free electricity to every family. The women are very happy. Women in Punjab are also very unhappy with inflation. The AAP government will also provide free electricity in Punjab. See you tomorrow in Chandigarh,” Arvind Kejriwal said in a tweet.

Punjab assembly consists of 117 seats. While the currently ruling Congress won 77 seats, AAP, which was non-existent in the 2012 elections, won 20 seats in the 2017 elections.

The Aam Aadmi Party is severely trying to expand the party beyond Delhi. Recently, party supremo Arvind Kejriwal has announced that his party will be contesting all the seats in the upcoming Gujarat legislative assembly elections in 2022.

It must be noted that AAP won 27 out of 120 seats in the Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) elections in 2021.
