As Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s BJP-led NDA seems all set to return to power with wins or leads in 298 seats, wishes have poured in from Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping congratulating him over his party’s performance in the elections.
Xi wrote in a letter to the prime minister that he wanted the two leaders to work together to improve bilateral ties between India and China. He also lauded the progress made in bettering relations between the two nations in the last couple of years.
Putin communicated a telegram to the prime minister’s office which expressed congratulations to Modi for the Bharatiya Janata Party’s “convincing victory”.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
