
As Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s BJP-led NDA seems all set to return to power with wins or leads in 298 seats, wishes have poured in from Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping congratulating him over his party’s performance in the elections.
Xi wrote in a letter to the prime minister that he wanted the two leaders to work together to improve bilateral ties between India and China. He also lauded the progress made in bettering relations between the two nations in the last couple of years.
Putin communicated a telegram to the prime minister’s office which expressed congratulations to Modi for the Bharatiya Janata Party’s “convincing victory”.
