Air India Express (AIE) will run daily flights from Kochi to Singapore via Bangalore, Deccan Chronicle has reported. The service will start on 29 October. Currently, the airline has flights to Singapore three days a week via Madurai. AIE is Air India’s (AI) budget carrier. The Kochi airport recently won United Nation’s award for entrepreneurial vision.
The Kochi-Singapore service via Bangalore will run on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. Flight IX-486 will depart Kochi at 10.30 a.m. and will reach Singapore at 07.55 p.m. In the return direction, the flight IX 485 will depart Singapore at 09.10 p.m. and arrive Kochi at 01.30 a.m.
An official responding to reports of an increase in charges for carrying corpses denied the news. “We are the only airlines undertaking this service and the cargo department of AI is in charge of it for both AI and AIE and it is headquartered in Delhi. The office in Kochi has not received any intimation of increasing the charges. There may be variance in rates destination to destination,” an official told Deccan Chronicle.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
