Azam Khan’s Son Detained By UP Police For Obstructing Raid On Khan’s Jauhar University

The Uttar Pradesh (UP) Police on Wednesday (31 July) detained the Samajwadi Party (SP) MLA Abdullah Azam Khan, who is also the son of senior SP leader Azam Khan, for obstructing the police raids at Mohammad Ali Jauhar University in Rampur, reports Asian News International (ANI).

As per the police officials, Abdullah was creating obstruction and not allowing the officials to carry out the work, and so to peacefully carryout the raid, Abdullah was arrested under section 151 of the Indian Penal Code.

Along with Abdullah, the police has also taken four people who work at the library for questioning. The FIR against Abdullah was registered at the Thanaganj police station.

In the raid, the police officials claim to have recovered more than 2500 expensive and stolen books, manuscripts and furniture so far from the search conducted at the Mumtaz Central Library of the aforementioned University whose chancellor is Azam Khan.
