Some parts of West Bengal’s Raiganj had witnessed tense scenes after media reports had claimed that some Hindus were not allowed to cast their votes in Muslim dominated parts of the Lok Sabha constituency.
The residents had also complained that they were assaulted by alleged Trinamool goons and had to face proxy voting in various polling booths.
Despite the electoral malpractices, the BJP is all set to win the seat. As per latest data, BJP’s Debasree Chaudhuri is leading over Congress’ Kanailal Agarwal by almost 60,000 votes.
In total the BJP is leading on 19 seats in West Bengal while Trinamool is leading on 22.
