Speaking at a function in Bhubaneswar, the newly elected Member of Parliament from Balasore and Union Minister Pratap Sarangi hailed Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as the party which made a tea seller the country's Prime Minister, a newspaper hawker the country's President and a man living in a hut, a representative of the people, reports India Today.
Former president of the country, revered APJ Abdul Kalam during the tenure of prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee had worked as a newspaper hawker during his school days.
Speaking at the event, Sarangi also shared "I was surprised, but Amit Shah Ji clearly told me that I will have to be there to take oath as a Union Minister." He added that he was grateful to God that he has given him this opportunity to serve people.
Sarangi also said that he never craved for a ministerial berth and that it came on its own, bringing for him a big responsibility to serve the people better.
Also attending the function was Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan who along with Sarangi was felicitated by the state BJP leadership on their first visit to Odisha after taking the oath as Union Ministers.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
