BJP’s Dr Krishan Middha emerged victorious with a comfortable margin in Haryana’s Jind by poll by winning a total of 50,566 votes. Congress candidate Shafia Zubair was able to secure a resounding victory in the Ramgarh bypoll in Rajasthan, reports Times Of India.

In Jind the Congress candidate Randeep Singh Surjewala ended up being a distant third, beaten for the runners up spot by Digvijay Singh Chautala of the Jannayak Janata party (JJP). Surjewala secured a total of 21,392 votes while Chautala bagged 37,681 votes.

The BJP leader had to face off against 20 other candidates, including two women, who were contesting the Jind by poll.

In Ramgarh, Zubair clinched victory with a comfortable lead over her opponents, beating her closest rival by a margin of 12,228 votes.

Encouraged by the favourable result in Jind, BJP Chief Minister of Haryana Manohar Lal Khattar expressed his confidence that his party would sweep all 10 Lok Sabha constituencies in Haryana in this year’s general elections. Khattar said that this result could be seen as a referendum on the Lok Sabha polls.
