Two new words will soon be added to the Oxford Dictionary, the world’s standard for words. They are ‘Bathukama’ and ‘Bonalu’, the names of Telangana state festivals.

The two words, which garnered worldwide attention, will be soon included in the English dictionary.

Nizamabad MP Kavitha requested the Oxford English Dictionary (OED) for the inclusion in November last year. The revision editor, Penny, of the Oxford Dictionary has now agreed to add the words on learning the importance of the meaning they hold.

Telangana Jagruthi on 23 October received a letter from OED accepting the proposal. Overwhelmed by the news, Kavitha expressed her happiness on the micro-blogging site Twitter saying two new words of Telangana culture are included in OED, reported Hans India.
