Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Tuesday (1 February) presented the Union Budget 2022-23 in the Parliament.
In the budget speech, the Finance Minister offered a futuristic outlook by claiming that animation, visual effects, gaming and comic offers a significant opportunity to employ the youth of the country.
On those lines, Sitharaman declared, "An AVGC promotion task force, with all stakeholders, will be setup to recommend ways to realise this and build domestic capacity for serving out markets and the global demand."
The Indian animation and VFX industry is set to expand to $2.4 billion by FY 24 and the task force is likely to further bolster the sector to achieve greater heights going ahead, Animation Xpress reports.
Finer details of this proposal will perhaps be available in the 'Union Budget Mobile Application' that covers the entire document at length.
