Effective from this year, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will start issuing a single document to students which will combine the Class 10 marksheet and certificate, reports Hindustan Times.
The decision was made by the CBSE’s examination committee and has received the green light from the board’s governing body.
“A single certificate at secondary level examination combining the language of the marksheet and certificate shall be issued for class 10 examination with effect from 2019,” stated a senior board official.
He added that the document will officially be treated as a certificate and candidates will need to meet the board-notified criteria for obtaining a duplicate copy.
In case a student takes an improvement exam, a separate pass certificate will not be given to him or her, but only an additional statement of marks will be issued.
Marksheets and certificates will continue to be separately issued for Class 12 students.
Another decision that has been made by CBSE is that from the 2020 academic session, compartment candidates will have three attempts to appear for the exam, while failed candidates would be permitted to take the exam the following year. Practical marks will be carried forward.
