In a release dated 29 January 2019, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has notified the names of its 16 regional offices with along with their jurisdiction that students, parents or schools can contact in case of any query. The branches cover the territory of India as well as abroad.
The regional offices are situated at Ajmer, Prayagraj, Bhubaneshwar, Chennai, Dehradun, Delhi East, Guwahati, Panchkula, Patna, Thiruvananthapuram, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Delhi West, Noida, Pune.
All foreign schools can contact the regional office in Delhi East, while Jammu and Kashmir residents can contact Chandigarh branch.
Previously, CBSE had notified guidelines for making requests to the board, asking schools, parents and children to desist from directly sending their queries to the CBSE headquarters in Delhi, as such requests needed to be forwarded to corresponding regional offices causing delay.
The guidelines asked the parents and children to pose their queries to the school, and if required, the heads of the schools can make recommendations to the regional offices as per examination bylaws.
The release also gave a list of the subjects for which request can be made to the regional offices, including matters related to examination, change in subjects, change in examination centre, refund of fee, direct admission etc.
Out of the 16 regional offices, six are new, including Pune, Chandigarh, Noida, Bhopal, and Bengaluru.
