Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP)'s Director-General SS Deswal on Monday (16 November) said that the Centre's plan for distribution and administration of the potential vaccine against COVID-19 is ready and that the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) will play a major role in the same, reports Economic Times.
During an interview, Deswal said that the CAPFs including the ITBP are prepared to assist the government in the mega vaccination drive as they have been doing in the past few months by treating patients.
Deswal said that the government's scheme for distribution and use of the vaccine is already in place and that it is now waiting for the vaccine. He also added that the use of the vaccine will not be a problem since a plan has already been laid out.
The ITBP DG also shared that the CAPFs will be playing a role in in the plan by the way of vaccination of own troops, their families, and also by helping out the people.
It should be noted that the CAPFs have a combined size of over 10 lakh personnel. Of these, ITBP alone has as many as 90,000 personnel.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
