The holy scripture of Sikhism, Shri Guru Granth Sahib is all set to be translated into Mandarin by the Sikh Dharma International (SDI).

“The translation must be multi-volume and under strict supervision only,” said SGPC chief secretary, Dr. Roop Singh. The ‘parkash’ initiation can only be performed in the presence of the holy book in the Gurmukhi script in the single-book form, he added, as reported by The Tribune.

SDI which has thousands of followers from US, UK, Japan, Taiwan and Russia has also launched SikhNet, the online learning courses for the benefit of “digital sangat”. It has already seen enrolment of 3,000 members globally.

Kulbir Singh Khalsa, chief of the US-based Sikh Dharma International (SDI) said that Japuji Sahib had already been translated into Chinese.

“We have members from at least 20 countries. Looking at Chinese people’s curiosity on Japuji Sahib and ‘Dhan Dhan Guru Ram Das mantra’, they were translated into Chinese. Experts are now making efforts to translate Guru Granth Sahib into Chinese language. It will be in several volumes,” he said.

A delegation from various countries under the banner of SDI is in Amritsar is also set to take part in the celebrations chalked out by the SGPC to commemorate the birth anniversary of Guru Ram Das, founder of the holy city.
