The Hyderabad metro rail network could soon see connectivity to the airport at Shamshabad as a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the second phase of the metro project is being readied by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).
The Managing Director of the Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) stated that an internal discussion had taken place and that the DPR would soon be sent to the State Government for its approval. The official further stated that under Phase II, metro links would be taken to new areas including bridging of gap between LB Nagar and Nagole.
Assuring that work on the Hyderabad metro project was proceeding at a good pace, the concessionaire L&T Metro Rail (Hyderabad) Limited is expected to incur an additional expenditure of Rs. 2,500 crore to wrap up the entire project.
This news comes in the light of a very encouraging response for the Ameerpet-LB Nagar stretch of Hyderabad metro which saw a footfall of 69,000 on the second day.
Currently with 46 km of lines, Hyderabad metro has the second largest metro network in the country.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
