After the demise of the three time chief minister of Delhi, Sheila Dikshit at the age of 81 on Saturday (21 July), the Delhi Government has declared a two-day mourning period in the national capital as a mark of respect for her, reports Livemint.
Announcing the two-day state mourning, deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia also said that the former CM and veteran leader will be accorded a state funeral.
Sisodia also tweeted, “The news of the demise of former chief minister of Delhi, Mrs Sheila Dikshit, is very sad. May God give peace to her soul, and give the family strength to bear this loss.”
Dikshit succumbed to a cardiac arrest on Saturday (20 July) afternoon at a private hospital in New Delhi. Following her death, Delhi Chief Minister (CM) Arvind Kejriwal and his deputy, Manish Sisodia cancelled their scheduled trip to the Vaishno Devi temple in Jammu and Kashmir.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
