The notorious gun wielding rioter Shahrukh has been arrested by the Delhi police crime branch from Uttar Pradesh, ANI has reported.
He is said to have been arrested from Bareilly.
Shahrukh had infamously fired eight rounds at a Delhi police constable during a Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) protest in Northeast Delhi on 24 February. After being bravely countered by the cop, Shahrukh fled the scene and was absconding ever since.
Incidentally, soon after the incident, media reports had claimed that Shahrukh had been apprehended by the police, only for the latter to clarify a few days ago that he was still absconding.
It was reported that Shahrukh was constantly changing his hideouts to avoid detection. His parents were identified as notorious drug peddlers, with multiple cases against them.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
