Former Indian cricket captain Mohammad Azharuddin who was banned for life over his role in a match fixing scandal, has now been accused of duping an Aurangabad based travel agent of over Rs 20 lakh along with two others, India Today has reported.
The travel agent named Shahab Mohammad, the owner of Danish Tours and Travels agency has alleged that he booked international flight tickets worth Rs 20,96 lakh for Azharuddin and two others on the request of the former cricketer’s personal assistant Mujib Khan.
The tickets pertained to return travel on Mumbai-Dubai-Paris route from 9 to 12 November 2019.
The travel agent was then repeatedly promised payment for the same but did not receive any money. He claims that he received an intimation from Azharuddin’s agency about them crediting half the dues from a Croatia based account but no such payment was made to him.
He is also said to have raised the issue with the Croatia National Bank but its authorities too denied any such transaction being processed.
Azharuddin has subsequently denied the allegations and claimed that it is a ploy of the complainants to make headlines. He has also vowed to file a Rs 100 crore defamation case against them.
