Top lawyer and former attorney general of India Mukul Rohatgi on Wednesday (1 July) told media-persons that he has refused to appear for Chinese mobile app Tik-Tok in its bid to overturn the ban imposed by the Narendra Modi led central government.

Rohatgi said that he is not willing to represent Tik-Tok in the Supreme Court as he does not wish to appear for a Chinese company and argue against the Indian government during such tense times.

The controversial app Tik-Tok was one of the 59 Chinese apps which were banned over national security concerns.

Government agencies had noted that these apps were engaging in activities which are prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, defence of India, security of state and public order.
