In a shocking incident, French President Emmanuel Macron was slapped by a man during a walkabout session with a crowd in the Drome region in southeastern France.
In a video clip circulating on social media platforms, Macron can be seen walking up to a barrier to greet people on a trip to Tain-l'Hermitage outside the city of Valence. The video shows a man in a green T-Shirt, with glasses and a face mask, shout out “Down with Macronia" (“A Bas La Macronie") and then deliver a slap to Macron’s face.
The President’s security quickly intervened to pull the man to the ground. Two people have been arrested in relation to the incident, reports Economic Times.

Terming it as an ‘isolated incident’, President Macron reportedly told French newspaper Le Dauphiné, “We must not let ultra-violent people take over the public debate: they do not deserve it,"
He once again returned to the barrier, later on, to interact with the crowd.
