Global Covid-19 Cases Increase To 44.4 Lakh, Death Toll Surges To Over 3 Lakh

The total confirmed cases of Coronavirus infection have increased to over 44 lakh globally, while the death toll has risen to more than 3 lakh on Friday (12 May).
The global tally of Covid-19 patients, as on 9.40 pm Friday, rose to 4,443,597, while the total deaths due to the deadly virus have surged to 3,02,452, according to the data from the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at John Hopkins University.
As many as 1,588,353 people have recovered from the disease, the CSSE data showed.
The United States has reported 1,417,777 Covid-19 cases, the highest in the world, followed by 252,245 infections in Russia, 234,440 in the United Kingdom, 229,540 in Spain, and 223,096 in Italy.
The US has also recorded the highest number of deaths due to the Coronavirus, with as many 85,898 fatalities reported in the country so far. The UK has the second-highest death toll with 33,693 deaths, followed by Italy’s 31,368 fatalities, according to the CSSE data.
