Global Covid-19 Tally Rises To 51.18 Lakh, Death Toll Increases To Over 3.33 Lakh

The overall number of global Coronavirus cases has surged to over 51 lakh on Friday (22 May) while the death toll due to the deadly virus, which originated in China’s Wuhan city, has risen to more than 3.33 lakh.

The global tally of Covid-19 patients has risen to 5,118,416 on Friday, with the death toll rising to 333,212, according to the latest data from the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at John Hopkins University.

As many as 1,960,223 people have recovered from the disease, the CSSE data showed.

The United States has reported 1,577,758 Covid-19 positive cases, the highest in the world, followed by 326,418 infections in Russia, 310,087 in Brazil, 252,246 in the United Kingdom, 233,037 in Spain and 228,006 in Italy.

The US has also recorded the highest number of deaths due to the Coronavirus, with as many 93,729 fatalities reported in the country so far. The UK has the second-highest death toll with 36,124 deaths, followed by Italy’s 32,486 fatalities.
