Setting her eyes on the 2022 State Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh (UP), the Congress General Secretary and the daughter of the interim party president Sonia Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has taken residence in the state's capital city of Lucknow, reports Asian News International (ANI).
Vadra has taken residence in a bungalow which belongs to former union minister Shiela Kaul who was the maternal aunt of Vadra's grandmother and former prime minister Indira Gandhi. The bungalow situated in Lucknow's Gokhale Marg is set to be her new base for driving further political discourse of the party in the state.
The development comes after Vadra had visited the house and spent a few hours there on 2 October in the midst of a padayatra. Presently, the bungalow is undergoing a renovation.
The decision to field Vadra on the ground in Lucknow follows from back to back decimating performances of the party in the 2017 State Assembly elections and the 2019 General Assembly elections, which had both witnessed the then party president Rahul Gandhi leading the campaigning.
