In a bid to boost the adoption and development of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies in the nation, Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology (IT) Ravi Shankar Prasad on Saturday (30 May) launched a dedicated portal to serve as one-stop platform for AI-related developments in India, sharing of resources, details of startups, investments of funds in AI, and domain companies and educational institutions in India, reports Economic Times.
The portal which has been allocated the web address "www.ai.gov.in" has been jointly developed by the Ministry of Electronics and IT and the industry body NASSCOM. Launching it for public access and utility, Prasad asserted that the nation must lead the development of AI in the world leveraging upon its vast internet-savvy population and the data which it is creating.
Prasad further underscored, "India's AI approach should be one of inclusion and empowerment of human being by supplementing growth and development rather than making human beings less relevant."
Along with the launch of the portal, on the completion of Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi's second full term government's first year in power, Prasad also launched a national programme for the youth, called "Responsible AI for Youth" aimed at empowering young minds with new technology led mindset, relevant AI skillsets and access to required AI tool-sets to make them digitally ready for the future.

The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
