The government on Tuesday (14 December) said that various steps are being taken in the Kashmir valley for safety and security of migrant labourers.
"A robust security and intelligence grid is in place to prevent any terrorist attacks on migrant labourers. In addition, day abd night area domination, patrolling and proactive operations against terrorists are being carried out in the areas where migrant labourers work or reside," Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai said in a written reply to a question in Lok Sabha.
Besides, round the clock checking at Nakas, Road Opening Parties are being adequately augmented at strategic points to thwart any terrorist attack on migrant labourers in Kashmir, the minister said.
"The migrant labourers from different parts of the country usually come to valley every year in the month of April/May and return to their native places during winter season after completing their seasonal work in the valley," Rai said.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
