Amazon India has joined hands with Gujarat Government to boost e-commerce exports from the state and has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in this regard ahead of the upcoming festive season, reports Financial Express.
Amazon said it will train and onboard Gujarat-based MSMEs on the Amazon Global Selling platform to sell goods to Amazon customers across over 200+ countries and territories.
The programme will involve training, webinars, and onboarding workshops for exporters from MSME clusters based in cities like Vadodara, Rajkot, Surat, Bharuch, Ahmedabad and more. Amazon will provide these exporters access to its 17 foreign marketplaces.
Speaking about the development, Chief Minister (CM) Vijay Rupani said, “Gujarat has a vibrant gems and jewellery, apparel and textiles and handicraft sector which is held together by lakhs of MSMEs. One of our key priorities has been to boost exports from Gujarat and through this partnership with Amazon, we aim to empower lakhs of MSMEs in Gujarat to embrace e-commerce exports.”
Meanwhile, Amazon India’s director of global trade Abhijit Kamra said, “The Amazon Global Selling program has already enabled more than 70,000 Indian exporters to cross $3 billion in cumulative exports, showcasing millions of Made in India products to customers across the world. The programme is witnessing tremendous momentum with increasing interest from exporters across India.”
