Last Friday (16 June), two big-budget films Adipurush and The Flash hit the screens. Although the plots of both movies are vastly different, they share one similarity: the inclusion of the Hindu god Hanuman.

DC Comics fans took to social media over the weekend to share a still from The Flash, an American superhero film, and pointed out that the protagonist's room features a poster of Hanuman.

In the scene, Barry Allen (played by Ezra Miller) invites Iris West (Kiersey Clemons) to his room for a drink.

Netizens were left wondering why the set designer chose to include a poster of a Hindu god in a superhero movie that has no connection to Hindu mythology.

Audiences and critics alike gave negative reviews to Adipurush, while The Flash received mixed reactions.

It so happens that both films were surrounded by controversy.

While Adipurush's creators were criticised for poor dialogue, little feeling, and garish visuals among other things, The Flash faced backlash for casting actor Ezra Miller, who is accused of disorderly conduct in public and physical assault.
