The proportion of fully vaccinated adult population in Haryana has crossed 40 per cent while almost 90 per cent people above 18 years have received at least one dose. So far, the state has administered around 1.8 crore first doses and over 80 lakh second doses.

The figures also point towards a possible slacking at the ground level and people shying away from taking the second dose. For example, in Delhi, 82 per cent eligible people have received their first dose and 47 per cent a second one. This shows that more people in Delhi are going for second doses compared to Haryana.

One encouraging aspect is that districts that are centres of economic activity and most urban in nature are moving fast in covering their adult population with both doses. More than half the adults in Gurgaon, Faridabad, Panchkula, Ambala and Charkhi Dadri are now fully vaccinated. Charkhi Dadri is the odd one out as it can be termed as essentially a rural district.

Others are not far behind. Nine districts - Rewari (41 per cent), Jhajjar (38 per cent), Mahendergarh (37 per cent), Karnal (37 per cent), Rohtak (37 per cent), Bhiwani (36 per cent), Yamunanagar (35 per cent), Sonipat (35 per cent), Kurukshetra (32 per cent) - have fully inoculated almost one-third or more of their population against Covid-19.

Gurgaon leads in the state in first dose coverage (121 per cent). The ’more than 100 per cent’ figure, chiefly a phenomenon seen in big cities, is explained by migrant population which may be working there but not counted as part of that particular place.
