The Chief Minister of Haryana, Manohar Lal Khattar announced a reduction in power rates for consumers provided that the consumption limit was 200 units or lesser. The Chief Minister made this announcement on the floor of the Vidhan Sabha in what was the last day of the monsoon session.
The rate for power for consumers using up to 200 units of power will be Rs. 2.50 per unit which is a steep reduction from the earlier rate of Rs. 4.50 per unit. As a result of the above reduction it is expected that the bill for consumers would fall from a steep Rs 937 to Rs 500 per month.
As per a Times of India report, if the consumers end up with an electricity bill of less than 50 units, the applicable charge would be just Rs 2 per unit.
It is believed that this move of the state government would benefit the lower income sections of the society greatly. As per report, the number of beneficiaries can be as many as 41.53 lakh domestic consumers.

The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
