After Rahul Gandhi’s temple hopping spree ahead of the Gujarat elections last year and Karnataka elections this year, his alliance partner and Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy seems to have picked up the baton.
Kumaraswamy has set a new record by visiting 40 temples in 82 days, almost one temple every alternate day, reports The Times of India. On Monday (13 August) alone, he visited seven temples including the Kukke Subramanya temple and the Dharmasthala temple. The visits have increased after he took office on 23 May, with 34 temples being visited in the 72 days of his premiership.
Former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa, who went on a similar temple visiting spree in 2008 seems to be no competition for Kumaraswamy as is Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath who has visited several temples since the time he took office last March.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
