Diversified infrastructure major Megha Engineering and Infrastructures is setting up a 2,500-bed capacity in several hospitals across Tamil Nadu, reports Economic Times.
As per the announcement made by Hyderabad-based conglomerate, each of the 2,500 beds will be equipped with oxygen support. Of these, 1,070 beds will come up in Chennai alone. Other than this, the beds will be set up in Erode, Vellore, Ambur, Natramballi, Melvisharam, Ayappakkam, Sholinagar, Vaniyambadi and Walajah, among other cities and towns.
It should be noted that the company has also completed the setting up of a 500-bed facility in the temple town of Madurai in just 72 hours.
As per the company, these beds are being provided to the ones in need free of cost. It also shared that all the oxygen beds being set up by it are coming up in hospitals that are served by the government’s medical staff.
The company has teamed up with the Indian Army to airlift cryogenic oxygen tankers from Thailand, and to set up oxygen plants across needy states.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
