Senior Congress Kapil Sibal while appearing as P Chidambaram’s lawyer, literally begged the Supreme Court (SC) to protect his client from being sent to Tihar jail in the INX Media scam.

As per legal journalist Utkarsh Anand, while petitioning the SC against Chidambaram’s CBI remand SIbal urged that his client should be put under house arrest if required but should not be sent to Tihar Jail.

While seeking interim protection from arrest, Sibal promised that his client won’t run away and also cited Chidambaram’s age to protest against the “treatment being meted out to him”.

During the course of his arguments, Sibal even if it means a house arrest. He added that the World won't turn topsy turvy in next three days if Chidambaram is not placed in custody.

Sibal then took things to the next level by literally begging the Supreme Court to ensure that his client does not end up in Tihar Jail.

In response to Sibal’s petition, solicitor general Tushar Mehta argued against the haste in which the defence wants a resolution of the matter. He sought a 10 day notice for replying over the bail petition.

Meanwhile. CBI has taken Chidambaram to the CBI special court to seek a one day custody extension, which otherwise ends today.
