The Institute of Chartered Accounts of India on Wednesday (23 January) declared the results for Chartered Accountant (CA) Final, CA Foundation and Common Proficiency Test (CPT) examinations.
ICAI also published a merit list containing names of the top 50 rank holders in both final and foundation exams.
Shadab Hussain, a resident of Kota, Rajasthan, emerged as the topper of Chartered Accountant (old syllabus) final exam with 74.63 per cent marks whereas Jodhpur’s Siddhant Bhandhari topped the new syllabus version by scoring 69.38 per cent.
Hussain, son of a tailor, earned his Bachelors of Commerce degree from Kota University. His father has only studied till class 10 while his mother is a school drop-out. Furthermore, he is the only brother of four sisters. However, despite his parents being less educated, the family worked hard to provide Shadab with proper schooling.
“I studied day-and-night to earn a job so that my parents do not have to bother about their old age. I thought of Chartered Accountancy (CA) to be a niche profession where one can learn throughout their life. After due consideration and research I set my mind to become a CA,” Hussain was quoted as saying.
This was Hussain’s first attempt at the exam and he had earlier topped the Integrated Professional Competence Course (IPCC) exam as well.
