Premier educational institutions in Uttar Pradesh namely the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur and Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Lucknow are all set to introduce yoga classes for its students and faculty, IANS has reported.
These institutions are aiming to include courses on yoga and spirituality to help its students who would be future manages, deal with the pressures which come with the job.
As per a faculty members, students at premier institutions face very stressful situations and makes them susceptible to anxiety and extreme steps like suicide. Thus yoga would be helpful for them to cope with such situations and also focus on work.
The report claimed that the institute authorities have requested Dr H R Nagendra the yoga guru of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to create a package for the students.
Various IITs and IIMs already have yoga courses as part of their campus life and IIM Ahmedabad last year introduced classes on Bhagavad Gita to prepare students for the corporate world.
