India has emerged as the fastest nation in the world to vaccinate more than three million people, as per the Union Ministry of Health data, reports Hindustan Times.
India has achieved the feat in just 13 days, much faster than the United States which took 18 days to surpass the three million milestone. Meanwhile, Israel and the United Kingdom took 33 and 36 days respectively to cover three million people.
India was also the fastest to surpass vaccination of a million as well as two million people. It should be noted that India initiated its vaccination drive only on 16 January, much later than the other three aforementioned nations.
From an average of 2 lakh people getting vaccinated on a day while the vaccination drive started on 16 January, the per day number has jumped to five lakh, as the number of sites and sessions has also gone up.
The vaccination in India has been led by states like Uttar Pradesh (2,94,959), Karnataka (2,86,089), Rajasthan (2,57,833) and Maharashtra (2,20,587).

Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
