India On The Cusp Of Authorising First Set Of Covid-19 Vaccines, Announces Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan

In a positive development in India's national effort to put an end to the COVID-19 pandemic, Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan yesterday (19 December) announced that the nation is at the cusp of authorising the first set of COVID-19 vaccines, reports Business Standard.

Dr Vardhan also emphasised the need for an expeditious vaccination drive to cover all the target populations estimated to be around 30 crores. He made the assertions and announcements while chairing the 22nd meeting of the High-level Group of Ministers (GoM) on COVID-19.

It should be noted meanwhile that Dr Vardhan also appealed the need for diligently maintaining a COVID appropriate behaviour and follow the relevant guidelines. In addition to this though, Dr Vardhan also expressed deep gratitude to all COVID warriors, who have been steadfastly serving without any fatigue throughout the pandemic.

The meeting was held virtually and was attended by External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, Minister of State Health & Family Welfare Ashwini Kumar Choubey, Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai, Member (Health) NITI Aayog VK Paul, Advisers to the Prime Minister Amarjeet Sinha and Bhaskar Khulbe.
