In a shocking incident at Cochin Shipyard Ltd (CSL), the Indian Navy’s under-construction aircraft carrier INS Vikrant was the subject of a vandalism attack, with a hard disk and a multi function control (MFC) processor also being stolen from the ship, reports Mint.
Even as authorities try to investigate who could have been behind the attack, iy seems the government may already have a clue; the Union home ministry believes the incident is part of “an internal matter and a possible insider job."
Although the dock was being guarded by Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel, a private security firm was assigned the task of watching over the construction area. CISF said that the probe is now being undertaken by the state police.
“The disk contains sensitive information crucial for national security and a probe is underway to check if it was an insider job or not," a person aware of the matter was quoted as saying by Mint.
