In a bid to enhance the rail safety, Indian Railways plans is introducing Linke Hoffmann Busch design coaches in the Saharsa-Anand Vihar-Saharsa Poorbiya Express, reports The Financial Express.

The train fitted with LHB coaches is set to have its inaugural run on 14 October. The Poorbiya Express train starts from Saharsa railway station on 14 October, and the return train departs from Anand Vihar railway station on 15 October.

The Poorbiya Express, would have a total of 22 coaches including two AC three tier coaches, one AC two tier coach, twelve sleeper coaches, five general coaches and two SLR coaches. Almost 16 seats have been added to class while 24 more seats have been added to the sleeper class and six more berths have been added to the 2AC class.

The LHB design coaches are lighter in weight, have higher load carrying capacity and higher speed potential compared to traditional ICF coaches. LHB design coaches are safer that ICF coaches as they have an anti-climbing feature where the coaches do not pile up on each other in case of a collision.
