The Indian Railways has deployed a total of 204 isolation coaches in four States across India, including 54 coaches at New Delhi's Shakurbasti railway station maintenance depot, reports Times of India.
Apart from the coaches deployed in Delhi, the Indian Railways has deployed a total of 70 coaches in the State of Uttar Pradesh (UP), at Varanasi, Bhadohi, Faizabad, Saharanpur, Mirzapur and Jhansi.
A total of 60 coaches have also been deployed in Telangana, and 20 in Andhra Pradesh. In Telangana, 20 coaches each have been deployed at Secunderabad, Kachguda and Adilabad.
Meanwhile, UP and Telangana have asked the Union Government for 240 and 60 more such isolation coaches respectively. UP plans to deploy the additional 240 coaches at 24 locations.
It should also be noted that Union Minister of Home Affairs (MHA) Amit Shah had announced today (14 June) that the Union Government is set to deploy a total of 500 isolation coaches in Delhi, given the paucity of beds in the Union Territory (UT). Thus, the number of coaches deployed in Delhi as of now are set to surge by a big quantum in the days to come.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
