Indian Railways will operate 200 non-AC timetabled trains on a daily basis starting 1 June and the online booking of tickets for these trains will begin soon, reports Livemint.
The development was made public on Tuesday (19 May) by Union Minister of Railways Piyush Goyal who also said that these trains will be run in addition to the Shramik Special trains which are being operated by the Railways to ferry stranded migrant labourers to their home States.
In a series of tweets, the Railways Minister said that 200 Shramik trains can run on a daily basis to ferry the stranded migrants.

"Within the next two days Indian Railways will double the number of Shramik Special Trains to 400 per day. All migrants are requested to stay where they are, Indian Railways will get them back home over the next few days,” Goyal said.

The minister further informed that Indian Railways will operate non-AC timetabled trains from 1 June and that the bookings for the same will begin soon.

Goyal also requested the state governments to identify and locate these migrants who are walking on roads to go to their home states and transport them to the nearest mainline railway station after doing their registration at the nearest district headquarters and give a list of these travellers to the railway authorities so that arrangements can be made for their further travel through 'Shramik Special' trains.

The Indian Railways has transported more than 21.5 lakh migrants to their home states through “Shramik Special" trains in 19 days and over 1,600 “Shramik Special" trains have been operated by it till 19 May, an official release said.
