In a significant development, India's Covid-19 vaccination coverage surpassed 160 crore mark.
Over 70.49 lakh Covid-19 vaccine doses were administered through 1,72,80,628 sessions across the country in the last 24 hours, taking the cumulative vaccination coverage to 160.43 crore, according to the Health Ministry data updated on Friday.
The Covid-19 vaccination drive in India began on 16 January last year.
"With the administration of more than 70 lakh (70,49,779) vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 160.43 Cr (1,60,43,70,484) as per provisional reports till 7 am today," the Health Ministry said on Friday (21 January).
Meanwhile, India reported over 3.47 lakh (3,47,254) fresh Covid-19 cases and more than 2.51 lakh (2,51,777) recoveries in the last 24 hours.
The active Covid-19 caseload in the country currently stands at 20,18,825.
Further, the total number of Omicron cases detected in the country have also increased to 9,692.
