The bridge is popularly known as Anji Khad Bridge, and its overall length is 1,315 metres. It is being built above the Chenab river at a height of 359 metres in Jammu and Kashmir. It will be around 30 metres taller than the iconic Eiffel Tower in Paris.
It will be country's first cable-stayed Indian Railways bridge and will be a key link in the 111-km stretch between Katra and Banihal which is part of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla section of the Kashmir Railway project.
The railway officials had reportedly stated during the launch of the project that the railway bridge will be able to withstand up to 8 magnitude earthquakes and high-intensity blasts.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
