J&K: Two Hizbul Terrorists Gunned Down By Security Forces In Awantipora Encounter

Two Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists were eliminated on Friday (20 August) by security forces in an encounter in Awantipora in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district.
According to officials, security forces launched a cordon and search operation at Khrew in Pulwama district following information about the presence of terorrists there, reports India Today.
The search operation turned into an encounter after the terrorists opened fire at the security forces, officials said, adding that two terrorists were killed in the ensuing encounter.
"One of the two terrorists killed in Khrew, Awantipora was involved in the killing of a peon at a government school in Pastuna on July 23 this year. He has been identified as Musaib Mushtaq of Khrew," J&K police IG Vijay Kumar was quoted by ANI as saying.

"One of the slain terrorists was identified as Musaib Mustaq, a resident of Khrew. He was involved in killing of Javid Malik at Lurgam. This was a hit squad of Hizbul Mujahideen responsible for civilian killings in South Kashmir," the police said.
Meanwhile, the identity of the second slain terrorist was being ascertained, the J&K police said.
