In a major development, the so-called emir of Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP) Mawlawi Abdullah aka Aslam Farooqui was arrested in a joint operation by Afghan security forces, reports Hindustan Times.
He is arrested for orchestrating the attack on Kabul Gurudwara on 25 March which killed 27 Sikhs.
As per intelligence report, Abdullah, a Pakistani national from Orakzai agency area on Pak-Afghan border, was earlier associated with Lashkar-e-Tayebba (LeT) group and then Tehreek-e-Taliban terror group. Later he replaced Mawlawi Zia-ul-Haq aka Abu Omar Khorasani as ISKP chief in April 2019.
The report further states that Abdullah used Kasargod resident Muhsin Tikaripur along with three other Urdu-Punjabi speaking terrorists for the Kabul attack on the instruction of Haqqani Network and LeT.
The Haqqani network (Quetta shura) had reportedly planned to attack the Indian mission in Kabul but could not penetrate the tight security but instead chose to target the Gurudwara when a prayer congregation was underway.
Abdullah will now be interrogated by Afghan National Directorate of Security to find out who ordered the attack on innocent Sikhs and what was the role of Pakistan in the terror strike.

The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
