Amid growing demand to free temples from the government control and restore the neglected temples across the country, former minister of Karnataka and national general secretary of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) C T Ravi said that he will restore a 800 year old dilapidated temple in Chikkamagaluru district.
C T Ravi who is a four-time legislator from Chikmagalur constituency of Karnataka State has adopted Sri Channakeshava Temple at old lakya, Chikkamagaluru. The historic temple presently occupied by bushes indicating its neglected condition belongs to the Hoysala era.
“Sri Channakeshava Temple at Old Lakya, Chikkamagaluru of Hoysala Era is in a highly dilapidated condition. I have embarked on a Mission to restore the Temple to its original glory. I seek the support of the Government, individuals and organisations to fulfill this Mission,” C T Ravi tweeted.

Karnataka, which is home to numerous traditional mutts and prominent temples, is also home to many ancient temples in poor condition due to several generations of neglect.
Many trusts and private individuals are working in the state to restore the Hindu temples to their original glory. For example, Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Dharmothana (SDMD) Trust has restored over 200 temples that would have otherwise just been forgotten.
