Five more positive coronavirus cases were reported today (21 March) in Karnataka taking the total number to 20.
Four have been admitted in isolation wards in Bengaluru. The latest case is of a 35-year-old male who returned from Dubai to Mysuru via Bengaluru and has been admitted in Mysuru.
While contact tracing has been initiated for all the patients, 10 senior IAS officers have been deputed to coordinate the containment efforts in the state. The state has initiated the process to monitor all home quarantined persons by forming special teams constituting members of the revenue, police, municipality and health departments.
These teams have been tasked with visiting all home quarantined persons and stamping the back of their left hands with the last date of quarantine.
Within the jurisdiction of the BBMP, 108 teams have been formed for the task and they will visit all home quarantined persons on Sunday (22 March).

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
